Dr Mohamed completed his undergraduate training at the University of the Western Cape in 2004. He served as dental officer in the Department of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery at Groote Schuur (2006) and Tygerberg Hospitals (2007-2009), where he assisted registrars and consultants in the department. He was also involved with teaching of undergraduate dental students.

He completed his specialist training at the Department of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery at Groote Schuur and Tygerberg Hospitals in 2009-2014. He also obtained a Masters Degree in Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery from the University of the Western Cape in March 2014, and a Fellowship in the College of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons in the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in May 2014.

Dr Mohamed received the South African Society of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons Medal for outstanding achievement in the Fellowship in the College of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery final examination for 2014.

He was awarded an AO CranioMaxilloFacial Surgery Fellowship-completed in Hannover, Germany in March 2015.

Dr Mohamed holds a part-time teaching post in the Department of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery at the University of the Western Cape.
